Poplawski and O'Sullivan Earn MASCAC Weekly Awards

WESTFIELD, Mass. –   For the second straight week, Westfield State University's Grace Poplawski (Rowe, Mass./Mohawk Trail) and Amy O'Sullivan (Greenfield, Mass.) have been named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference's Rookie and Runner of the Week, respectively.

O'Sullivan took home runner of the week honors for the sixth time in seven weeks this season.   (The lone week O'Sullivan did not earn the award was when she did not race, and then it was earned by the Owls' Kayla Whitcomb, making it a clean sweep for Owls athletes this season).

O'Sullivan placed a team-best 19th at the Carolina Grape '22 Memorial Blue Race, hosted by Conn College at Harkness Park, which will be the site of the NCAA Regionals later this falls.  O'Sullivan covered the 6k course in 22:25 against a strong field of 205 runners.

Poplawski covered the 6k course at Harkness Park in 26:05, placing 72nd.   It is her third time this season earning the league's rookie of the week award.

Westfield will be back in action on Saturday, October 30 as they compete at the 2021 MASCAC Championships, hosted by Fitchburg State in Devens, Mass. (the former Fort Devens), starting at 11:00 AM.
