O'Sullivan Goes Top-10 in Louisville

WESTFIELD, Mass. –   Westfield State senior Amy O'Sullivan (Greenfield, Mass.) stopped the clock in 22:24.3 on the 6-kilometer course to place eighth overall at the Live in Lou Cross Country Classic at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Ky.

The 278-athlete race served as a preview to the NCAA Division III National Championship meet, which will be contested on the same course in mid-November.

O'Sullivan fared well on the circuit, as the meet featured teams and athletes from all over the country.   Evie Bultemeyer of Trine (Ind.) was the individual champ in 21:32.2, followed by Emory's (Ga.) Annika Urban in 21:49.1  Natalie Bitetti from Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (Calif.) was third.

The meet is one of the largest cross country racing festivals in the nation, with 12 races across a variety of levels of competition on the day.   O'Sullivan's race was designated for D3 athletes prepping for the national meet.

O'Sullivan and her Westfield State teammates will compete in their home meet, the James Earley Invitational, at Stanley Park in Westfield, next Saturday, October 9.
