O’Sullivan Places Second Overall, Owls Finish Fourth at Saratoga Springs Invitational

Westfield, Mass. – Westfield State senior Amy O'Sullivan (Greenfield, Mass.) placed second overall to help the Owls secure a fourth place team finish at the Saratoga Springs Invitational on Saturday morning in Saratoga, New York. O'Sullivan finished with a time of 23:16 in the seventy-player field. The reigning MASCAC runner of the week trailed first place runner Nia Goddard (Malvern, PA) of RPI by just five seconds. O'Sullivan also received a complimentary pie for finishing in the top ten overall. 

Owls seniors Kayla Whitcomb (Hubbardston, Mass.) and Mia McDonald (Westfield, Mass.) also had strong performances. Whitcomb placed 25th with a time of 25:50 and McDonald crossed the finish line just after her with a time of 26:19 in 30th place.

RPI won the meet overall, followed by Ithaca College and Vassar College.

The Owls next meet will come next Saturday at the Louisville Cross Country Classic at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky.
