O’Sullivan, Johnson Earn MASCAC Honors

Westfield, Mass. – Westfield State cross country runners' Amy O'Sullivan (Greenfield, Mass.) and Kerin Johnson (Weymouth, Mass.) each received MASCAC honors this past week, with O'Sullivan earning MASCAC runner of the week, and Johnson taking home rookie of the week.

O'Sullivan paced the Owls this past weekend at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational, placing seventh individually out of a large 234-runner field. She finished the 5,000-meter course with a time of 18:20.1.

Johnson was the second Owl to cross the finish line, placing 66th overall and recording a time of 20:07. The performances of both Johnson and O'Sullivan helped propel the Owls to a 10th place finish in the 29-team field.

It is the second time this season O'Sullivan has won MASCAC runner of the week, while Johnson has claimed the rookie of the week honors in all three weeks this season.

The Owls next meet will come this upcoming Saturday as the Owls travel to Saratoga, New York for the Saratoga Springs Invitational.
