WESTFIELD, Mass. – The Westfield State women's volleyball team dropped a pair of games as part of a tri-match at Worcester State University, losing to the Lancers in four sets (25-23, 17-25, 19-25, 16-25) before falling to Connecticut College in the second game in straight sets (25-20, 27-25, 25-14) on Saturday afternoon.

GAME 1

The Owls and Lancers met in a scheduled non-conference game in Westfield's opening match of the day as the two teams will meet later in the season again from Worcester with the game counting towards the teams' overall conference records. Today's meeting is the first time both teams have met since last year's MASCAC Championship game.

Westfield won the opening set in a tightly contested frame with Lauren Carnes (Westfield, Mass.) securing a late kill to give the Owls the set victory.

Worcester (5-7) answered by winning the next three sets, cruising to wins in sets two and four while holding off Westfield in the swing set to put the Lancers in control of the match.

The Owls generated a season-low 14 kills in the match with Carnes and Julia Bartiet (Cheshire, Conn.) leading the group with four kills each. Julia Dangel-Garcia (Ashland, Mass.) and Morgan Dority (Walpole, Mass.) supplied four assists apiece while Bridgette McAndrews (Longmeadow, Mass.) led all Owls players with 19 digs.

Beatrice Gamboa-Estrella (Simi Valley, Calif.) led the match in kills (10) and added 15 digs. Angela Colonis (Waterford, Conn.) owned a match-high 19 assists and 22 digs.
