Lee, Owls Compete at Coast Guard Invite

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Sophomore Eliza Lee (Walpole, Mass.) posted a pair of top five performances as Westfield State women's track and field competed at the Coast Guard Academy Spring Invitational from New London, Conn. on Saturday afternoon.

Lee recorded a third-place leap in the triple jump at 10.71 meters and earned fifth place in the 400 with a time of 1:04.87. She also finished top ten in the long jump at a mark of 4.90m for eighth place as Westfield competed with a total of 15 different institutions from across New England and the Mid-Atlantic.

Shea Hamel (Longmeadow, Mass.) placed third out of 24 runners in the 5000m, crossing the tape in 18:54.37. Julianne Kelly (Natick, Mass.) earned a top-ten finish in the event, finishing in 19:29.28.

Senior Paige Moroney (Sterling, Mass.) placed tenth in both the 100m dash (12.97) and the 200m (27.42).

In the field events, Bronwyn Pinsly was tenth in the discuss throw, tossing to a distance of 31.36m.

The Owls 4x100 relay team of Anjalina Lubarsky (Ludlow, Mass.), Moroney, Emily Ottomaniello (Agawam, Mass.) and Lee earned a fourth-place finish out of eight teams with a mark of 52.56.

Westfield State will host the Jerry Gravel Invitational from Westfield, Mass. for their next meet beginning at 10:00 A.M.
