Lee, Marin Lead Owls at Coast Guard Invite

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State first-year Eliza Lee (Walpole, Mass.) and sophomore Vicky Marin (Greenfield, Mass.) both tallied second place performances to lead the Owls at the Coast Guard Invite from New London, Conn. on Saturday afternoon.

Lee earned a second-place mark in the triple jump with a distance of 10.59m. Marin leaped a distance of 5.04m in the long jump to finish second in the event. She also placed fifth in the triple jump (10.35m) and sixth in the 100m hurdles (16.90m).

Paige Moroney (Sterling, Mass.) logged a pair of top four finishes, collecting third in the 200m dash (26.49) and fourth in the 100m dash (12.77).

The Owls once again delivered a strong team performance in the 5000m with the trio of Mia McDonald (Westfield, Mass.), Shea Hamel (Longmeadow, Mass.), and Molly Kennedy (West Springfield, Mass.) placing within the top six of the field. McDonald led the group of Owls in fourth (18:29.80) followed by Hamel (18:38.35) in fifth and Kennedy (19:18.04) in sixth place. All three runners shattered personal best times with Kennedy breaking her previous time by 34 seconds.

Additional personal record times were set in the 1500m as Tealei Chandonnet (Dracut, Mass.), Alison Downin (Hudson, Mass.), Rebecca Patel (Belchertown, Mass.), and Amanda Walsh (Needham, Mass.) all ran top personal marks.
