WESTFIELD, Mass. –  Westfield State track and field athletes won three weekly awards from the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, as first-years Johnny Ware (Wilmington, Mass.) and Eliza Lee (Walpole, Mass.) were named as the league's rookies of the week, and grad student Mia McDonald (Westfield, Mass.) was chosen as the female track athlete of the week.

McDonald won the 3000 steeplechase with a time of 12:31.41 on a rainy and blustery day at the Corsair Classic meet at UMass Dartmouth on Saturday.

Lee won the triple jump with a hop, skip and jump of 10.25m at the Corsair Classic, and placed fourth in the long jump at 4.73m.

Ware placed second in the javelin with a top mark of 45.48 meters, and also recorded a top personal best throw of 10.34 in the shot put in placing 13th at the Corsair Classic.

Westfield track and field will next travel to the Coast Guard Invitational meet on Saturday, April 8, before coming home to host the Gravel Invitational meet on April 15.
