Women's Outdoor Season Gets Underway at Wesleyan

WESTFIELD, Mass. –  Westfield State women's track and field had a pair of event winners as the Owls kicked off the outdoor track and field season at the Swanson Invitational Meet at Wesleyan University on Sunday. 

 Sophomore Vicky Marin tied for first in the high jump with a mark of 1.53 meters, and placed second in the triple jump with a distance of 10.68 meters, and finished fifth in the 100 hurdles with a time of 16.72 seconds.

The Owls' Shea Hamel (19.05.55) and Molly Kennedy (19.54.15 ) ran 1-2 in the 5000 meters followed by Rebecca Patel in fourth.

Mia McDonald placed second in the 10,000 meters with a time of 40.32, with Grace Ppolawski took fourth in 42:07.

Paige Moroney placed second in the 100 meters with a time of 12.61 seconds and finished third in the 200 meters  in 26.53

The Owls 4x100 team placed third with a time of 53.76 seconds.

The meet was moved to Sunday to take advantage of a much sunnier weather forecast after mixed precipitation on Saturday.

Westfield will next compete at the Corsair Classic at UMass-Dartmouth on Saturday, April 1.
