Women's Track Takes Second Place at GGA Invitational #2

Vicky Marin placed second in four different events to highlight Westfield State women's track and field's performances at the Coast Guard Winter Invitational #2 at the Academy in New London, Conn. on Friday afternoon.

Westfield placed second among the five scoring teams.  Coast Guard won with 172, followed by the Owls at 64, and UMass Dartmouth with 38.

Westfield State's 4x200 relay had a winning effort, as the crew of Paige Moroney, Becca Welch, Mackenzie Burgoyne, and Emily Ottomaniello posted a time of 1:53.68.

Moroney also placed second in the 200 (27.68), and third in the 55 meters in 7.76 seconds.

Marin piled up points for the Owls as she took second in four events: in the 55 hurdles in 9.06 seconds, in the long jump 5.09 meters, in the high jump at 1.56 meters, and in triple jump with top mark of 10.40 meters.

Eliza Lee was second in the 400, Brynne Lecours second in the 800, and Tealei Chandonnet finished third in the mile for some of the Owls other top performaces.

The Owls will host an indoor meet at the Smith College track next Friday.
