WESTFIELD, Mass. –  Westfield State graduate student Mia McDonald (Westfield, Mass.) will earn All-New England honors in indoor track after coming in with an eighth-place finish in the women's 5000 meters at the NEICAAA All-Divisions championship meet at the Track at New Balance in Boston on Thursday evening.

McDonald, the only runner from an NCAA Division III school in the 16-athlete field, finished in 18:41.47, a personal best time.

The rest of the field consisted of only NCAA Division I runners, with the race won by Central Connecticut's Brooke Mirabito in 16:52.24.

The top eight runners in the field earn all-New England honors from the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association.

McDonald's finish also puts Westfield State on the scoreboard at the meet with 1 point, currently in 15th place in the meet standings.

Westfield's John Nekitopoulos (West Springfield, Mass.) will run in the men's mile tomorrow.  The rest of the Owls team will compete at the Coast Guard Invitational Meet this weekend.
