Strong Performances for Owls Women's Track at Wesleyan Invitational

First year Eliza Lee (Walpole, Mass.) won a pair of events and Mia McDonald (Westfield, Mass.), Brynne LeCours (Haverhill, Mass.) and Vicky Marin (Greenfield, Mass.) each won individual events to pace the Owls women's track and field team's efforts at the Wesleyan Invitational meet in Middletown, Conn. on Saturday.

Lee topped the triple jump with a best mark of 9.83 meters, and also hit the tape first in the 400 meters with a time of 1:05.59.

McDonald sizzled through the 5000 meters in 18:42.75, 13 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor.  The Owls also took the 3-4-5 spots in the 5000 with Shea Hamel (Longmeadow, Mass.), Molly Kennedy (West Springfield, Mass.) and Grace Poplawski (Rowe, Mass./Mohawk) chasing McDonald home.

Lecours hit the tape in the 800 in first with a time of 2:32.67, while Marin won the 60 hurdles in 9.69 seconds. 

Marin also picked up third in the high jump (1.47 meters) and second in the long jump (4.74 meters).

Westfield's 4x800 relay team also had a good day as the crew of Tealei Chandonnet (Dracut, Mass./Grtr. Lowell Tech), LeCours, Kennedy and McDonald won in 10:52.28.

Westfield will next be in action on Friday and Saturday with qualified entrants running at the New Balance track in Boston for the All-New England meet.  The Owls will also send a contingent to the Coast Guard Invitational meet in New London, Conn. on Sunday.
