Fast Start to the Semester for Owls Track and Field

WESTFIELD, Mass. -- Westfield State had a pair of event winners at the Coast Guard Invitational as the Owls competed in their first indoor track meet of the semester in New Lonndon, Conn. on Saturday.

Rayna Consiglio topped the 600 meters in 1:56.86 in a field that consisted entirely of Owls' runners, and Brynne Lacours hit the wire first in 3:22.22 in the 1000 meters.

Other top finishers for Westfield included Shea Hamel's fourth 3000 meters in 11:09.43 and the Women's 4000 distance medley relay team placing second in 13:46.06

The Owl women placed three runners in the top eight of deep 26-runner field in the mile, led by grad student Mia McDonald in 5:39.01.

Paige Moroney placed third in her heat to qualify for the finals in the 55 meters, where she placed eighth.  Moroney ran 7.68 in the prelims.

No team scores were recorded at the meet.

The Owls will be back on the oval next Saturday at the Massasoit Classic at Springfield College.
