WESTFIELD, Mass.  – Westfield State senior Amy O'Sullivan (Greenfield, Mass.) set a school record in the 10,000 meters, and she and sophomore Colby Ranck (Chicopee, Mass./Hampden Charter) both earned All-New England honors at the New England Division III championship met at Williams College on Saturday.

O'Sullivan set a personal-best in the 10,000, lowering her own school-record time by more than a minute as she placed second in the race in 35:58.47.    O'Sullivan had a good target to chase in event winner Ari Marks of Wellesley, an All-American in both track and cross country, who won the race in a fast 34.15.45.

O'Sullivan earns All-New England honors by virtue of finishing in the top eight at the meet.    She moves into 20th place on the NCAA Division III qualifying list (pending other results this weekend).

Ranck also earned All-New England status with an eighth-place finish in the long jump, with a personal-best mark of 6.80 meters.

The Owls' Vicky Marin (Greenfield, Mass.) qualified seventh in the 100 hurdles in 15.23 seconds, and will run in the finals on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.    Marin placed 20th in the long jump today with a mark of 5.14 meters, and will also compete in the high jump and triple jump on Saturday.

Paige Moroney (Sterling, Mass./Wachussett) outran her seed in the 100 meters, narrowly missing advancing to finals with a time of 12.79 seconds - .02 outside the time needed to advance in the top eight.

The Owl women sit in eighth place in the team scoring after day 1 with eight points.  The Westfield men are on the scoreboard in 15th place with the one point earned by Ranck.

Westfield's Shane Clark (Bellows Falls, Vt.) and Brendan DeBarber (Enfield, Conn.) will also compete on Saturday in the men's javelin event.
