Popp 10th at All-New England Meet

Westfield State senior Lexi Popp placed 10th at the NEICAAA Track and Field championships with a time of 57.49 seconds in the 400 meters at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston on Friday.

Popp competed in a field of 32 athletes from Division I, II, and III meet that serves as the New England all-divisions championship.

Most of the Westfield State team competed in Middletown, Conn. on Saturday.

Amy O'Sullivan led the Owl runners with a third place in the 5,000 meters in 19:27.57   Andrea Noland placed fourth in the same event.

Lauren Gilderdale highlighted the field events for Westfield with second place finishes in both the shot put (38' 4.75") and weight throw  (46'  9.5").

Other highlights for the Owls included Lauren Izabel's fourth in the 800 (2:44.81); Lauren Fitzgerald's fourth in the  3000 meters in 11:27.05 and Brianna Deloury's fourth in high Jump (4'11").

Westfield will next compete in the Dave Hemery Invitational meet at Boston University on Saturday, Feb. 9.
