WESTFIELD, Mass. –   Westfield State's Jenn Rennich scored one goal and assisted on another as the Owls kicked past UMass-Dartmouth, 2-0 in a non-conference women's soccer match at Cressy Field in North Dartmouth, Mass. on Tuesday evening.

Westfield improves to 10-3-1 overall.  The Owls were ranked seventh in the region in the initial NCAA rankings conducted today.    UMass-Dartmouth slides to 3-11-1 overall.

Rennich set up the Owls' first goal about 10 minutes into the match, centering a pass from the left side to Morgan Berthiaume who scored with a shot from the top of the penalty area.

Rennich added Westfield's second goal later in the first half, blasting a shot from 20 yards out on the right side that UMD goalkeeper Madison Durkin couldn't handle and slipped into the goal.

Westfield outshot the Corsairs, 27-2 in the match and had a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks.   Westfield goalkeeper Julia Robak didn't need to make a save in earning the shutout, while Durkin and Kat Hubbard combined to make 10 saves for the Corsairs.

Westfield will be back in action on Saturday, hosting Fitchburg State at 11:00 a.m. on Alumni Field in a key showdown at the top of the MASCAC conference as the two schools are just a half-game apart in the standings.
