Rennich Nets Hat Trick in Owls Decisive Win over MCLA

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State forward Jenn Rennich (Bedford, Mass.) tallied her second hat trick in the last three games as the Owls steamrolled past MCLA 6-0 in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference game from Shewcraft Field in North Adams, Mass. on Friday night.

The Owls improve to 2-0 in conference play and 5-2-1 overall. MCLA drops to 1-5-1 on the season and 0-2 in MASCAC action.

Rennich put the Owls on the board with her first of three goals, with Delaney Parker (Orange, Mass.) recording the assist. Two minutes later, Riley Lowe (Andover, Mass.) extended the lead to 2-0 with her second goal of the season.

Jaida Cochran (Middleboro, Mass.) and Rennich each scored goals 28 seconds apart inside the 20th minute with Parker and Marissa Jacob (Holden, Mass.) registering assists to put the Westfield lead at 4-0.

In the second half, Mary Kate McAleavey (Quincy, Mass.) scored her first of the season with Rennich adding another at the 84th minute to give her 11 goals on the year.

Julia Robak (Chicopee, Mass.) (W, 2-2) got the start in net for the Owls, while Sarah Fuller (Weymouth, Mass.) and Michaella Moncecchi (Windsor, Mass.) split time in the second half.

Trailblazers goalie Jillian Currier (Troy, N.Y.) was peppered in net, recording 24 saves in the game as the Owls finished with a hefty 46 shots, 31 of which were on net.

Westfield State will enter back into non-conference play on Wednesday as the Owls will travel to Smith College for a 4:00 PM start time.
