WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State senior Emma Cretella (Cheshire, Conn.) received conference honors this past week, securing the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week after the Owls wrapped up the regular season with a 2-0 week.

Cretella collected 12 points with six goals and six assists to go along with three ground balls and two caused turnovers to help guide the Owls to the 2023 MASCAC Regular Season title. She tied her season-high scoring output against Framingham, racking up six goals and adding two helpers in an 18-10 victory over the Rams on Saturday. She also tacked on four assists in a 16-3 win over MCLA on Tuesday.

On the season, the senior midfielder is currently tied for second in the conference in goals (52) and leads the Owls with 71 points across 17 games played. She also leads the squad with 57 draw controls and has registered at least one point in every game played on the season.

Westfield State (12-5, 7-0 MASCAC) concluded the regular season after a flawless month of April, recording nine straight wins leading into the MASCAC Tournament where the Owls earned the top overall seed in the conference and a first-round bye. The Owls will host a MASCAC Semifinal game on Thursday, May 4 at 7:00 P.M. and will face the winner of the #4 Worcester State vs #5 Salem State first round game which will be played tomorrow.
