Women's Lacrosse Fleeces Fitchburg, 20-6

Fitchburg, Mass. – Emma Prattson (Tolland, Conn.) handed out six assists for Westfield State to help lead the Owls' women's lacrosse team to their seventh straight win in a 20-6 decision over Fitchburg State on Saturday afternoon at Elliot Field.

Westfield State improves to 10-5 overall and 5-0 in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, while Fitchburg slides to 5-7 overall and 2-3 in the conference.

Prattson's six assists tie for the third-best single game total in school history.

Westfield's Natalie DeMaio (Westwood, Mass.) initiated the scoring just 32 seconds into the game, tallying the 100th goal of her career to give the Owls a 1-0 lead.

For the second straight game, Westfield powered its way to a big early lead, with DeMaio netting three of her four goals on the day to help the Owls to a 10-1 lead after the first quarter.

The Owls led 13-4 at the half and got the game into running time for the final 13:31 of the match after Nicole Rinkus (Pembroke, Mass.) scored off of a feed from Lindsey Bohenko (Lowell, Mass./Central Catholic).

This was the 15th meeting between the Falcons and the Owls with Fitchburg State 2-13 all-time when taking on Westfield State.

Sophomore Alyson Cote (South Hadley, Mass.) made seven saves for Fitchburg State.

Kara Banagan (Niskayuna, N.Y.) and Sydney Smith (Dalton, Mass./Wahconah) split the game in goal for the Owls, making five saves between them as Westfield State limited the Falcons to just 11 shots on goal.

Rinkus added four goals and two assists, and DeMaio and Cassidy Connolly (Woburn, Mass.) finished with four goals and an assist each.

Nicole Orlowski led the Falcons with four goals.

Westfield will next host MCLA on Tuesday evening at Alumni Field with a 7:00 p.m. start.
