Camels Get Past Owls Late

WESTFIELD, Mass.  – Connecticut College rattled off seven consecutive goals in the fourth quarter to break open a tight game and top the Westfield State women's lacrosse team, 15-7 in a non-conference game at New London, Conn. on Wednesday evening.
 
Westfield (3-3) trailed just 8-6 after Cassidy Harvey's goal to open the fourth quarter scoring, but from there the Camels took control, netting the next seven goals in succession before Westfield's Natalie DeMaio finally broke the streak with an Owls goal with 1:42 left in the game.
 
Emma Cretella led the Owls with three goals, while DeMaio added two.
 
Kara Banagan finished with 13 saves, as the Owls were out-shot 35-22 on the day.
 
Aine Downey led the Camels (4-2) with six goals, scoring four times in the key fourth quarter stretch. Violette Nidds made 10 saves for Conn College.
 
Westfield will next play at #19-ranked Amherst College on Saturday at 12:00 p.m.
