Women's Lacrosse Tops Fitchburg, 16-3

FITCHBURG, Mass. – Westfield State women's ran out to a 7-0 lead and never looked back as the Owls rolled to a 16-3 win over Fitchburg State in a designated non-conference game on Saturday.

The Owls flattened the Falcons for the second time in three days, on the heels of a 17-5 win on Thursday.   Westfield improves to a 2-1 on the season, while Fitchburg is now 1-2.

Cassidy Harvey scored twice and assisted on aonther in the first 13 minutes of play as Westfield built its lead.

Victoria Paras led the Owls with three goals and two assists on the day.  Harvey added two goals and three assists, Cassidy Connolly tallied three goals, and Kelly Gearin added two goals and an assist.

Lily Sears and Kara Banagan combined for four saves for the Owls.

Francesca Reyes made 23 saves in goal for the Falcons.

Westfield State will return to action on Thursday evening with a MASCAC game at Worcester State.
