Navoni Leads Owls Past Salem, 16-2
SALEM, MASS. - Elizabeth Navoni (Mansfield, Mass.) scored five times as Westfield State sailed to a 16-2 victory over Salem State on "Think Pink" night at Alumni Field. The Owls go to 9-1 and 2-0 in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) while the Vikings slip to 1-8 and 1-1 in conference.

Sydney Lambert (Hanover, Mass.) - 2 goals, Alexa Tonelli (Shrewsbury, Mass.) - 2 goals, Marissa Nimeskern (Hanover, Mass.), Hunter Zackaricz (Southampton, Mass.), Rachel Gelina (Westfield, Mass.), Allie Fedak (Wilbraham, Mass.), Sam Donohoe (Pepperell, Mass.), Rachel Testa (Westfield, Mass.) and Sarah Stapleton (Dedham, Mass.) all scored for Westfield State.

The Owls raced out to a 5-0 lead in the opening 10 minutes. Nimeskern started the scoring less than three minutes in. Lambert scored her first of the game followed by back-to-back goals from Navoni. Gelina scored the fifth unanswered goal for Westfield State at the 20:58 mark. Two more scores by Narvoni and a tally by Lambert made it 8-0 with 14:29 remaining. Fedak converted a free position shot and Zackaricz and Navoni capped the scoring before halftime as the Owls built an eleven-goal advantage.

Consecutive scores by Tonelli made it 13-0 early in the second as the Owls held a 26-12 advantage in shots. Rose Sullivan (Charlestown, Mass.) broke the scoring drought for the Vikings, as she notched her sixth goal of the season at the 16:07 mark. Donohoe made it 14-1 in favor of Westfield State less than two minutes later. Paige Giuliano (Braintree, Mass.) scored the Vikings' second goal before Testa and Stapleton added two more scores for the Owls, making the final 16-2.

Maria Woodall (Norfolk, Mass.) made six saves in the win while Emma Duffy (Braintree, Mass.) stopped four shots and allowed two goals in relief. Gianna DenNisco (Peabody, Mass.) allowed 11 goals while making seven saves for the Vikings. Gloria Gillen (East Bridgewater, Mass.) gave up five goals and stopped five shots in the second half.

The Owls finished with a 32-19 advantage in shots, including a 28-12 margin in shots on goal.
