NORTH ADAMS, Mass. –   Olivia Hadla scored 17 points with seven rebounds and 4 assists as Westfield State topped MCLA 83-49 in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference opener for both teams at the Amsler Gym on Wednesday evening.

Westfield improves to 8-6 overall and 1-0 in the MASCAC.   MCLA is now 3-10, 0-1 in the league.

Jordan Grant added 15 points and nine rebounds for Westfield State, with Octaviana Williams chipping in 11 points and five rebounds.

Olivia Pressley led MCLA with 11 points.  Kristie Zator added 10 points and five rebounds.

Westfield led 25-5 after the first quarter.  Westfield forced 15 Blazer turnovers, and the Owls connected on 11 of 20 shots from the floor.

The Owls held a 41-13 lead at the half.  Jordan Grant paced Westfield with 11 points, while Hayley Peabody led the Blazers with four points.

Westfield State will next host Framingham State, with a 2 p.m. tip off at the Woodward Center on Saturday, with the Owl women following with a game against the Rams at 2:00 p.m.  Both are MASCAC Conference games.

MCLA will travel to Fitchburg State for a 2 p.m. MASCAC tip against the Falcons.
