WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State junior forward Jordan Grant (Gray, Maine) and first-year guard Octaviana Williams (Springfield, Mass.) each earned conference recognition this past week with Grant receiving the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week while Williams earned the Rookie of the Week for the week ending January 2 and dating back to December 14.

Grant logged a double-double with a career-high 34 points to go along with 12 rebounds in an 88-70 victory over SUNY Cobleskill on December 14. Her 34 points tied for the tenth highest single-game point total in program history. She scored 24 of her 34 points in the second half, which is the second most points scored in a single half, trailing only Jill Valley '17 who tallied a 34-point half against Worcester.

On the season, Grant is second in the MASCAC in points, leading the Owls with 17.7 per game and grabbing a team-high 7.0 rebounds across ten games this season. She also owns a team-best 50.4% field goal percentage on the year.

Williams earned her third conference Rookie of the Week award, securing 11 rebounds and three steals in the win over SUNY Cobleskill. The 11 rebounds were a short-lived season high for the first-year guard as she followed up the strong outing on the glass with 17 rebounds (nine offensive rebounds) in an overtime loss to Coast Guard yesterday.

On the year, Williams has pulled down at least five rebounds in seven of 13 games played, including consecutive double-digit efforts to push her season total to 5.9 per game, which is second on the Owls behind Grant. She is also tied for the team lead in steals per game at 2.5.

Westfield State (7-6) will begin their conference schedule tomorrow, January 4, as the Owls travel to MCLA for the MASCAC opener in a doubleheader with the men's team for a start time of 7:00 P.M.
