Westfield Faces Conference-Leading Rams

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State Women's Basketball has an opportunity to snatch their fourth straight win against the conference leading Framingham State Rams on Wednesday 5:30 PM at the Woodward Center in Westfield, Mass. 

The Owls moved to 11-9, and 5-2 in the MASCAC with a 106-37 victory against MCLA on Sunday the 30th. Framingham State won their 7th consecutive game against Fitchburg State, sitting at 15-3 with a perfect 7-0 record in conference games. 

Westfield seeks revenge against the Rams after dropping the January 24th matchup 102-55. Sophomore forward Jordan Grant (Grey, ME) led the owls with 18 points and 8 rebounds in the prior meeting. The Owls leading scorer Melissa Gray (Peabody, Mass.) dropped 21 points against MCLA and looks to have an impact after missing the previous game against Framingham. Sophomore guard Olivia Hadla (Westfield, Mass.) chipped in 7 points and 8 assists versus the Trailblazers. 

Framingham's top scorer Flannery O'Connor (Amesbury, Mass.) had 28 points and 15 rebounds the last time the Rams faced the Owls. Katty Haidul (Gilford, NH) had a monster game herself with 21 points and 20 rebounds. Kyrsta Padellaro (Newburyport, Mass.) is coming off an 18-point night against Fitchburg State. Haidul and O'Connor rank second and third in the conference in rebounds per game as both players are averaging a double-double on the season. Haidul is also tied for first in the conference in field goal percentage (51.9%).

Both Gray and O'Connor found themselves on the New England Women's Basketball Association Player of the Week Honors as O'Connor secured the Player of the Week while Gray was a part of the honor roll after setting the school record for made three pointers (Currently with 295) in a victory over SUNY Cobleskill on Thursday.

This game will feature a halftime presentation of the Athletic Director's 3.0 reception, honoring high achieving student-athletes with their respective sporting teams. The event will recognize over 250 varsity student-athletes who recieved a semester and cumulative grade point average over 3.0. Special presentation halftime speakers will include President Dr. Linda Thompson as well as Director of Athletics, Richard Lenfest Jr.
