WESTFIELD, MA - Westfield State junior forward Melissa Gray (Peabody, Mass.) was named Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball player of the week, as sponsored by Geico, after her performances in this past week's games against Connecticut College and Salem State. 

Gray was alson named the New England Women's Basketball Association Co-Player of the Week, the second straight week she has earned that honor as well.

Gray averaged 25.5 points, 12 rebounds, seven steals and a block, in the 1-1 week for the Owls. She finished with totals of 32 points and a season high 15 rebounds in the 89-70 loss against Connecticut College. She also finished with 19 points, 11 steals and 9 rebounds in the 91-77 win over Salem State. 

For the season, Gray now leads Division three in steals (81) and steals per game (4.76). 

Westfield is now 7-11 overall this season. The Owls play MCLA away on Wednesday January 29th at 5:30 p.m.
