Owls Grounded at Albertus Magnus

WESTFIELD, Mass. – The Westfield State men's soccer team dropped a non-conference game against Albertus Magnus College 4-0 on Wednesday night from Celentano Field in New Haven, Conn.

The Owls drop to 3-2-1 on the season with the Falcons improving to 5-1-3 overall.

Albertus Magnus jumped out to an early two-goal lead within the first 13 minutes of the game. Roger Baldwin (New Haven, Conn.) got the scoring started for his third goal of the season off a double assist from Kelvin Cortez (Meriden, Conn.) and Colby Nardelli (Berlin, Conn.).

Six minutes later, Cortez notched his second helper of the game this time setting up Kris Bocchio (Middletown, Conn.) to double the Falcons lead. Morgan Stone (Wallingford, Conn.) added a third first-half goal as the Falcons held a 3-0 lead into the half, then added the final tally of the night off from Gabriel Paglia (Amity, Conn.)

The Owls nearly got on the scoreboard in the 80th minute after a shot from Carter Hebert (Easthampton, Mass.) rang the crossbar.

All four goalies got action for the Owls tonight with Luke Theroux (Chicopee, Mass.) starting in net, taking the loss while recording one save. Drew Adams (North Attleboro, Mass.) and Collin O'Brien (Windsor Locks, Conn.) each notched a save as well.

The Owls held an 11-10 shot advantage but just two of those were on net. The Falcons attempted 11 corners to the Owls single attempt.

Next up for Westfield State is a MASCAC match on Friday night at MCLA with a start time of 6:00 P.M.
