Westfield, Mass. – Senior captain Ian Jalbert (Avon, Conn.) sent Westfield State (2-0-0) home victorious by scoring the game-winning goal in the 92nd minute on the road against Suffolk on Saturday afternoon. The goal concluded what was a back-and-forth affair between the two teams.

Tied 1-1 entering the second half, the scoring opened up on both sides as first-year midfielder Nick Brown (Southwick, Mass.) scored a pair of goals just four minutes apart (61', 65') to put the Owls ahead.

Suffolk (1-1-0) would answer a minute and seventeen seconds later as graduate student Nigel Leo (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.) added a goal, and then scored the equalizer at the 69th minute.

In overtime, after Suffolk failed to convert on a corner kick, the Owls possessed the ball down field as junior forward Jayjay Evborokhai (Chicopee, Mass.) set up Jalbert for the go-ahead goal. Jalbert also added an assist to his tally on the afternoon. Evborokhai opened the scoring for the Owls in the first half at the six-minute mark to even the game at one.

Miguel Varela (Milton, Mass.) put the Rams on top twenty-nine seconds into the game with his third goal of the season.

The Owls next opponent will come on the road against Western New England on Wednesday at 4:00 P.M.
