WESTFIELD, Mass. –   Westfield State senior Kyle DelSignore (Attleboro, Mass.)  fired the low round of the day on Sunday with a 1-over par 72 to help lead Westfield State to a third place finish at the Elms Blazer Invitational golf tournament at Cold Spring Country Club in Belchertown, Mass.

DelSignore carded two birdies and three bogeys in his round Sunday, which tied with tournament winner Jack Meehan of Tufts for the low round of the day.   DelSignore rebounded from an 83 on Saturday to end up 10th in the individual results.

Fellow Owls senior J.J. Newcombe (Bellingham, Mass.) carded 78-74-152 to finish in fourth place.

Tufts University swept the top three spots in the tournament, and took home the team title with a two-day total of 593, 27 strokes better than runner up Amherst College.  Westfield finished with a score of 621, just one stroke back of the Mammoths, to take home third place.

Cold Spring played 6,521 yards as a par-71 for the tournament.

Westfield's Mike Waldman (Billerica, Mass.) placed eighth with 81-73-174, and Brandon Smith (Feeding Hills, Mass.)  started fast with a 74, two strokes off the lead on Saturday, but carded an 89 on Sunday to finish in a tie for 23rd.

The Elms Invitational marks the end of the Owls fall schedule, with additional meets to follow in the spring.
