Westfield State senior men's golfer J.J. Newcombe (Bellingham, Mass.) was named as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference's co-golfer of the week.

Newcombe shot a 5-over par 76 to tie for second place at the Brett Williamson Invitational meet, hosted by Westfield State at Tekoa Country Club on Thursday, September 23.

Newcome shared weekly honors with Mitchell College's Jack Hayes, who was one of the players who tied Newcombe for second at the Williamson.

Westfield State's golf team will be back in action on October 4 and 5, competing at the two-day MASCAC Championship meet at Berkshire Hills Country Club in Pittsfield, Mass.   Westfield is the defending conference champion, and the winner of the fall 2021 meet will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III national championships in the spring of 2022.
