WESTFIELD, Mass. –  Westfield State senior Matteo Godek (Feeding Hills, Mass./Agawam) was co-medalist, shooting a 1-over par 72 as the Owls defeated Worcester State in a collegiate dual golf match at Tekoa Country Club on Saturday.

Westfield prevailed 308-331.

Worcester State's Connor Anderson also posted 72 to share the low round of the day.

The two were evenly matched statistically all day, with both players making four birdies on the afternoon.  Godek birdied the 231-yard par-3 18th to match the low score.

Westfield junior JJ Newcombe (Bellingham/Blackstone Valley) third, four strokes back with a 76, and the Owls Kyle DelSignore (Attleboro) fourth at 77.  DelSignore's round was key to the Owls win, finishing 12 strokes ahead of his Worcester counterpart.

Worcester's Henry Bruckner was fifth with a 78.

Westfield tipped the Lancers for the second straight day, as the two teams squared off yesterday at Blackstone National in Sutton.

Both teams will be back in action next Wednesday, April 28, for the 2021 MASCAC Men's Golf Championship, which will be played at the Ranch Golf Club in Southwick.
