Omot Earns Second Consecutive MASCAC Rookie of the Week Honors

WESTFIELD, Mass – For the second consecutive week, Westfield State forward Juju Omot (Springfield, Mass.) was named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week.

Omot averaged 18.5 points, seven rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 1.5 steals per game in the Owls pair of games this past weekend. Omot had 25 points, seven rebounds, and five assists in the Owls 86-65 victory over MCLA. He then tallied 12 points, seven rebounds, and six assists in an 81-80 setback over Worcester State on Saturday.

Omot has also won the MASCAC Player of the Week twice this year, with this week's rookie honors being the fourth time overall he has earned conference honors. He is currently leading the team in scoring, averaging 15.7 points per game, which is fifth is the MASCAC and is second on the Owls in rebounds per game (5.6) as well.

Westfield State currently finds themselves in third place in the conference standings with a record of 6-3 (15-7 overall). The Owls are back in action this Wednesday, February 7 as they will travel to Fitchburg to take on the Falcons in a MASCAC battle for a 7:00 P.M. tipoff.
