WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State sophomore Juju Omot (Springfield, Mass.) secured conference honors this past week as he was named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week after a dominating pair of performances in a 2-0 week for the Owls.
Omot was the Owls leading scorer in both contests, averaging 27.5 points, six rebounds, and 2.5 steals to guide Westfield to consecutive conference wins.
He posted a career-high 31 points in a 99-67 victory over Salem State on Wednesday, adding seven rebounds and three steals as well while shooting an efficient 57% from the floor. In his next game, Omot piled on a game-high 24 points with three triples as the Owls defeated Framingham State 110-59 on Saturday.
On the season, Omot leads Westfield in scoring at 15.4 points per game, placing him among the top five scorers in the MASCAC. He bumped his three-point percentage up to 40% for the year which is currently third in the conference ranks and is second on the Owls in rebounds per game at 5.5.
Omot has topped the 20-point scoring mark seven times this season and four times in the last six games.
Westfield State (14-6, 5-2 MASCAC) enters the back half of the league schedule as the Owls jostle for playoff positioning in their next game against MCLA (11-8, 5-2 MASCAC) on the road Wednesday at 7:00 P.M.
