Omot Named MASCAC Player of The Week

WESTFIELD, Mass.  -  Westfield State sophomore swingman Juju Omot (Springfield, Mass./Springfield Central) has been named as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball Player of the Week, for the week ending Dec. 17.

Omot led the Owls to a pair of wins on the week, scoring 24 points and grabbing 17 rebounds in an 87-80, non-conference road win at SUNY-Cobleskill on Thursday, then backing up that performance with 14 points, 10 rebounds and three assists in a 78-58 win over UMass Boston on Saturday.

Omot has scored in double figures in each of the Owls last five games, and for the season is averaging 14.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.3 points per game.

In his first season as an Owl, Omot has helped the Owls to a 7-4 overall record.  The Owls will pause for the semester break, before returning to the hardwood on Dec. 30 and 31 at the Naismith Classic tournament at Springfield College.  The Owls will face Bowdoin College in the opener on Dec. 30 at 3:00 p.m. at Blake Arena.
