Westfield, Mass, -- Westfield State Senior guard Vawn Lord (West Springfield, Mass.) has been named this past weeks Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week, sponsored by Geico.  

The Owls won over Salem State 86-63 while Lord contributed a career-high 44 points, 11 rebounds and three assists. Later in the week the squad took on MCLA with a 89-73 win on their senior day. Vawn had 31 points, 11 rebounds, an assist and a steal to help clinch the Owls win Saturday. 

He averaged 37.5 points and 11 rebounds for the week. Lord scored on 49 percent of his shots from the court and 83 percent of his shots from the free throw line. 

The Owls now have the top seed in the conference tournament, and host the MASCAC semifinals on their home court Thursday, February 27 at 7:30 p.m.
