Owls Field Hockey Places Three on MASCAC All-Conference Teams

Westfield State's three all-conference field hockey players; Bre Foley, Morgan Wichmann, and Emily Martin.

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State field hockey placed three players on the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference's all-conference team, the league announced on Thursday.

Senior back Morgan Wichmann (Granby, Conn.) was named to the first team, while senior back Bre Foley (South Hadley, Mass.) and senior midfielder Emily Martin (Southwick, Mass.) were selected for the second team.

Wichmann earns all-conference honors for the first time. She started all 20 games in the back for the Owls, and recorded a pair of defensive saves.  The Owls allowed conference foes just 1.19 goals against per game and posted three shutouts.

Martin earns her second all-conference recognition. She was a third-team all-Little East pick a year ago.  She finished the year with four goals and two assists for 10 points, and added a defensive save as a key cog in the Owls' midfield.

Foley also makes her second appearance on an all-conference team as she earned third team all-Little East honors in the fall of 2021.  She totaled six goals and three assists to rank third on the team in scoring, thriving in a supporting role after talking over the inserter role on the Owls' penalty corners.   On the defensive end she helped anchor the Owls back line with two defensive saves while starting all 20 games.

Westfield finished the year with a 12-8 overall record under first-year head coach Carden Brown. The Owls went 8-2 in the MASCAC's regular season and earned the #2 seed in the conference tournament, before bowing out in a hard-fought, 2-1 double overtime loss to Framingham State in the league tournament semifinals.
