Smith Recognized As MASCAC Offensive Player and Co-Rookie of The Week

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State University junior running back Jordan Smith (Coventry, Conn.) is being recognized by the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference as Offensive Player and Co-Rookie of The Week for his outstanding performance in a 28-18 Owls' victory against Worcester State on Coughlin Field in Worcester, Massachusetts on Saturday.

Smith was all over the field in Saturday's win. On the ground in 25 carries, Smith rushed for 130 yards and a touchdown. In the air, Smith caught a team-high five receptions for 29 yards, while also throwing for an 18-yard touchdown on a halfback-option play.

Smith made five tackles on the defensive end and broke up a pass.

Smith and the Owls' football team will kick off again on Saturday, November 12 against the Fitchburg State Falcons, as they celebrate their annual senior day on Alumni Field in Westfield, Massachusetts.
