Westfield State baseball assistant coach Jim Cloutier enters his third season with the coaching staff for the 2024 season. Cloutier played four years of Division I baseball at Brown University (1991-95). At Brown, he was a four-year letter winner, hit .271 as a senior, and hit a game winning walk off against Yale in 1995. At Brown, he played for Coach Bill Almon, who played in Major League Baseball for 15 years.

Cloutier is a Westfield native with more than 10 years of coaching experience between Westfield Little League, Westfield Babe Ruth, and the Western Mass Fall Baseball High School League. He played baseball for Westfield High School under Massachusetts Hall of Fame head coach Tom Sgroi, where he was a captain and won three consecutive Western Mass Division I championships (1989,1990,1991), and was the runner up in the 1989 State championship.

He was selected to All-Western Mass Division I baseball first-team in 1991. Jim also played soccer and basketball in high school where he was a senior captain of both. Cloutier earned placement on the All-Western Mass Division I soccer first-team along with his baseball accolades.

Cloutier played American Legion Baseball for Westfield Post 124, and in his first year on the team he was coached by late Westfield State Hall of Famer, Coach Ray Arra. In Jim’s final season with Westfield Post 124 in 1991, the team reached the Massachusetts American Legion Final Four.

Jim graduated from Brown with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Economics, and a B.A in Organizational Behavior and Management. He is married to Jennifer Sheedy Cloutier and has two children: Muriella and Jimmy.
