WESTFIELD, Mass. –  Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start of summer, and plenty of Westfield State University baseball athletes will be in action this summer in a variety of collegiate summer leagues across the Northeast.

Among those confirmed to play so far, senior starting pitcher Shane Bogli (Vernon, Conn/Rockville HS) headlines the group, as he will pitch with the Bristol Blues of the New England Collegiate Baseball league.  The NECBL is widely regarded as one of the top collegiate leagues in New England, along with the Cape Cod League and the Futures Collegiate Baseball League, featuring highly skilled Division I, II and III and Junior College players.

Nick Martin (Shrewsbury, Mass.) is back for a third season with the Futures Collegiate Baseball League's defending champions, the Worcester Bravehearts.

Also in the futures league will be pitcher Patrick Jordan (Reading Mass.), competing a few blocks from campus with the Westfield Starfires at historic Bullens Field, and Owls starting pitcher Vincenzo Camera (East Haven, Conn.), a former member of the Starfires inked a temporary contract with the Norwich Sea Unicorn.

Pitcher Joseph Fischer (Avon, Mass.)  and catcher Nolan Florence (Chicopee, Mass.) will be in action with Orioles of the Hudson River Collegiate Baseball League.

Infielder Kyle Darby (S. Windsor, Conn. / East Catholic) will play with the Manchester Eagles of the Connecticut Collegiate baseball league, Luke Mathewson (Eastford, Conn,/Woodstock Academy) will be pitching with the South Windsor Phillies in the Greater Hartford Twilight League, and first baseman J.B. Floris (Franklin, Mass.) will see action with the Hock Valley Panthers of the Cranberry League.

The Owls posted an 18-8 overall record in a shortened 2021 season.
