Owls' Baseball Puts Eight on All Conference Team

WESTFIELD, Mass. –  Led by first team selections Brett Dooley, Ethan Day, and Bryant Dana, Westfield State University had eight players named to the 2021 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference baseball all-conference team.

Dooley and Dana were joined by second team picks Casey Boudreau, Nick Martin, Sean Moorhouse, Patrick Jordan and Nate Langmeier.

Dooley, a senior 3B from Cohasset, batted .345 with three doubles, two triples and 18 rbi.  He ranked among the league leaders in hits (29) and runs (21).

Dana, a senior catcher from Lynnfield, enjoyed a breakout season behind the plate, batting .302 with a .542 on base percentage, ranking in the top 10 in NCAA Division 3 in walks per game (1.17) as he drew 27 walks in 23 games.  He scored 13 runs and drove in 11.

Day, a junior outfielder from Meriden, Conn. batted .328 for the season and led the Owls with three home runs.  He also rapped five doubles and a triple, drove in 20 runs and scored 13.

Boudreau, a graduate student from Shrewsbury, was selected as a utility player.  He was one the league's top hitters, batting .416.  Boudreau led the Owls with 32 hits, and scored 20 runs while driving in 11.  He played second base, first base, and the two corner outfield positions during the year.

Jordan, a senior starting pitcher from Reading, posted a 3-2 record with a 2.06 ERA.  He allowed just 18 hits in 35 innings and struck out 37.

Langmeier, a senior starting pitcher from East Granby, Conn. led the league with six wins, posting a 6-1 record in 30.2 innings pitched while striking out 29 and walking 12.

Perhaps the circuit's top defensive center fielder, Shrewsbury native Martin hit .255 with six doubles and eight stolen bases.  He played in just 17 of the Owls 26 games while battling injuries during the season.

Moorhouse, a senior 1B from Westfield, Mass., hit .274 with 16 rbi and a .395 on-base average, and posted a .982 fielding percentage for the season.

The Owls finished the 2021 campaign 18-8 overall and 6-4 in the MASCAC.  Westfield was receiving votes in the final New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association coaches poll of the season.
