Westfield, Mass. -- The Westfield State University baseball team honored their longtime Hall-of-Fame coach Ray Arra, who passed away in May of 2018, at the annual Alumni Game held at Bud and Jim Hagan Field on Saturday.

Athletic Director Lenfest spoke to Coach Arra's family, as well as the current baseball team and alumns about Arra's accomplishments at Westfield State. Arra was a three-year captain of the Westfield State baseball team, compiling a 14-4 career pitching record and batting .405 in 1963; .384 in 1962; and .357 in 1964. He then went on to become the head coach of the Owls in 2005, where he is still the winningest head coach in Owls baseball history, leading Westfield to NCAA Tournament appearances in 2007, 2009 and 2010.

After the speech, Coach Lenfest led the presentation of Arra's coaching jerseys, flowers, and a custom plaque of rememberance to Arra's family. Among the members of Arra's family at the event was his wife Judy, two daughters Christine and Kimberly with their husbands Don Bilodeau and Adam Lesko, and grandson Hudson.

Coach Arra's grandson, Hudson, went on to throw out the first pitch to senior Jake Gibb.

The Owl alumni and current Owls then squared off in a 6-inning contest, followed by pizza and refreshments after.
