Bogli, Dunn Claim MASCAC Weekly Awards

Westfield, Mass. - Westfield State senior Colin Dunn (Westfield, Mass) was named the MASCAC baseball player of the week, while sophomore Shane Bogli (Vernon, Conn) claimed pitcher of the week honors. Both awards are sponsored by GEICO.

Dunn takes home the award after batting .667 with a .727 on base percentage in a 2-0 week for the Owls. The hard hitting infielder also had two home runs, five runs scored, and four RBI to go along with a 1.333 slugging percentage in the two wins against Coast Guard Academy and Anna Maria College. The strong week brings Dunn's season average up to .390 with 11 runs scored and nine RBI.

Shane Bogli, a sophomore in his first season for Westfield State, pitched a gem against Coast Guard Academy to earn pitcher of the week honors. Bogli tossed eight scoreless innings and struck out nine in the win, without walking a single batter. Bogli has had a stellar start to the season, striking out 19 batters in 20 innings with a 1.35 ERA in four appearances for the Owls.

Westfield is 6-4 overall this season.  The Owls have a non-conference game against Elms College scheduled for Wednesday, then begin conference play on Friday at Worcester State University.
