A member of the Westfield State athletics staff since the fall of 2016, Marlee Berg-Haryasz serves as assistant athletic director for or recruitment, retention & student-athlete well being.

Berg-Haryasz was a standout athlete at Westfield as a member of the women’s cross country and track and field teams, winning the NCAA Division III indoor high jump title in 2009.

She graduated from Westfield State in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication, public & corporate relations. She earned a Master of Science degree in exercise & sports studies from Smith College, where she served as a graduate assistant coach from 2010-12, and served as an assistant track and field coach at UMass Lowell (2012-13) and at Brandeis University (2013-16).

She returned to Westfield State in 2016 as part of an NCAA Division III Ethnic Minority and Women's Internship Grant, a two-year grant program that provides funding for entry-level administrative positions at NCAA Division III schools and conference offices to encourage access, recruitment, selection and the long-term success of ethnic minorities and women. The position was made permanent at Westfield State in 2020.

Berg also has assisted with the Owls cross country and track and field programs.

As an athlete, Berg helped the Owls to win the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference title in all 12 seasons of cross country and track and field in which she competed.  She will be inducted into the Westfield State Athletics hall of fame as a member of the class of 2021.
