WESTFIELD, MA – The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletics Conference recognized five Westfield State University student-athletes for their outstanding sportsmanship and were selected to the Winter Sportsmanship Team for men and women's basketball, men's ice hockey, and men and women's indoor track and field.

Senior Moody Bey (Springfield, Mass./Monson) helped lead the Owls men's basketball team to an impressive 20-8 overall record, 10-2 in the MASCAC, and an NCAA Tournament bid. Bey provided the Owls with 8.2 points and 4.5 rebounds per game and shot 73.4% from the foul line. Bey's performance on defense supported the Owls MASCAC Championship season with 80 assists and 62 steals.

Senior Alyssa Camara (Quincy, Mass.) helped lead the women's basketball team to a second-place finish in the league and a spot in the MASCAC tournament. Primarily the point guard for the Owls' second unit, Camara averaged 4.7 points and 1.4 assists per game for the Owls this season.

Women's indoor track and field honoree Lauren Gilderdale (Monterey, Mass./Housatonic) served as the benchmark in the field events this season, winning the MASCAC title in both the shot put and weight throw event, recording a distance of 13.12 meters and 17.25 meters, respectively. Gilderdale qualified for the NCAA Championship meet.

Senior Riley Moore (Holden, Mass./Wachussett Reg.) contributed to a successful season for the men's indoor track and field team in the pole vault event, including a second place finish in the MASCAC Indoor Championship on February 15, recording a season-high 4.00-meter jump, or 13' 1.5".

The Westfield State men's hockey team advanced to the semifinals of the MASCAC playoffs this season with the help of senior goaltender Kameron Limburg (Howell, Michigan). Limburg started in six games with a season total .904 save percentage. Limburg recorded a career-best GAA of 3.43 this season, highlighted by a 6-2 victory back on November 26, against Johnson and Wales University (RI).

The MASCAC Sportsmanship Team is intended to recognize one student-athlete from each team, in every sport that best demonstrates the values of the MASCAC and its Sportsmanship Statement, regardless of their overall performance or statistics for the season.
