Lisa Lebiecki (’87) received high marks athletically and academically at Westfield State.

Lebiecki was a three-time all-conference and two-time All New England softball selection, but the Northampton native graded even higher in the classroom.

She was a two-time Academic All American as selected by the college sports information directors of America. A magna cum laude graduate with a 3.75 grade point average, the elementary education major was a first team Academic All American in 1987 and a second team All American in 1986.

A two-year captain, Lebiecki batted .293 for her career and set a school record with 26 sacrifice hits. But her finest asset was most likely her defense. In 103 career games played, the catcher/outfielder only committed 10 errors.

Lebiecki earned All New England honors in 1987, batting .347 in helping to lead the Owls to their first and only ECAC New England championship. She earned All New England and All-District I honors in 1985.

After graduating from Westfield State, Lebiecki received a teaching fellowship at Smith College and earned her master’s degree in education from Smith in 1988.

She taught in Vermont for six years then embarked on a teaching journey around the globe. Teaching at international private elementary schools, her travels have taken her to Venezuala, Tanzania, El Salvador, Brazil and Ethopia. She now teaches in Budapest, Hungary.
