One of the greatest hitters in Westfield State College history, Pat Ryan was named the MASCAC baseball Player of the Year as a senior in 2005 and set multiple school records in just two seasons at Westfield State.

After transferring from North Adams State following his sophomore year, Ryan set Westfield State records for career batting average (.447) and for triples in a season (10) and career (16). He was an all-New England selection in both his junior and senior seasons, and ranks among the program’s stolen base leaders.

In his junior season, Ryan hit a school record .468 with six HR’s and six triples. As a senior, he hit .429 with 10 triples, leading the Owls to a 21-win season. His 10 triples ranked him second in the nation in triples per game.

Ryan played for the North Adams Steeple Cats of the New England Collegiate Baseball League, a prestigious summer league for high-level collegiate players. He was also selected to play in the prestigious New England All-Star Game at Fenway Park following his senior season.

Upon graduating Westfield State with a movement science degree, Ryan earned a spot on the College Team USA as an outfielder in 2006, playing in Prague, Czech Republic. Ryan has also played for the Pittsfield Hillies and the Pittsfield Elms Vintage baseball teams.

Ryan played three seasons of varsity baseball McCann Technical High School in North Adams, earning team MVP honors. He has returned to his alma mater to teach at McCann and has coached the baseball team since 2011.

Pat and his wife Jess reside in Dalton and have two daughters, Emma (age 3 1/2) and Addie (1 1/2).
