Owls Cross Country Takes Three of Four Weekly Awards

WESTFIELD, Mass. -- The Westfield State men's and women's cross country teams grabbed one athlete of the week and two rookie of the week awards from the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) for their performances last weekend.

On the women's side, Amy O'Sullivan (Greenfield, Mass.) and Grace Phair (Stockbridge, Mass.) were both named the MASCAC Runner and Rookie of the Week for their finishes at the Western New England Invitational. O'Sullivan crossed the finish line on fourth, while Phair was a half step behind in fifth at the meet. It is the fourth time the duo has been honored with the weekly awards together, and Phair's fifth time as the rookie of the week.

For the men, freshman Anthony DiStauro (Milford, Mass.) picked up his first MASCAC Rookie of the Week award, finishing 14th at the Western New England Invitational out of a field of 182 runners. He completed the 8k course in a time of 26:57.

Both the men's and women's teams will compete at the MASCAC Championships held at Moore State Park next weekend.
