Westfield State Women Sixth At James Earley Invitational

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State's women's cross country team took sixth place at the 23rd Annual James Earley Invitational Meet at Stanley Park on Saturday.

Westfield State freshman Amy O'Sullivan (Greenfield, Mass.) again led the roster for the Owls, as she placed 10th individually in a time of 19:00.68.

Christine Myers from NCAA Division II Saint Rose won the Women's White (varsity) Race in a time 18:11.97 on the 5,000 meter course. Recent Westfield State alumnus Jessie Cardin '18 placed second in 18:17.15, and Worcester State senior Mia Rogers was third (second among scoring runners) in 18:38.07.

Smith College won the team title with 92 points. Trinity was second with 118 and Mount Holyoke third 131. The Owls' women were sixth with 213 points.

Owls' junior Andrea Noland (Silver Lake/Kingston, Mass.) was 21st in the individual standings with a time of 19:35.09, followed by Lauren Fitzgerald (Burncoat, Mass.) in 20:28.77, Lauren Izabel (Suffield/Enfield, Conn.) in 20:47.23 and Jackie Caffarelli (Uxbridge, Mass.) in 20:49.05.

A total of 29 teams and 219 individuals competed in the women's white race.

In the women's "Blue" race Siena's Abbi Wright and Mary McNally ran 1-2, with Wright holding off McNally in the stretch in a time 19:58.61 .

Worcester State won the team scoring in the Blue race with 35 points. Westfield was fourth with 101.

Westfield's women were led by Rachael Farley (Wachussett/Paxton, Mass.) in who placed fourth in 20:10.59

Mary Philpott (Westfield, Mass.) was 16th in 21:09.50 and 23rd Kait Pajer (Leicester, Mass.) in 21:26.91.

Eight teams an 118 individuals contested the Blue Race.

The Owls will be back in action next Saturday, October 13 at the Gettysburg College Invitational meet in Gettysburg, Pa.
