Volleyball Tops Bridgewater, 3-0

WESTFIELD, Mass.  – Westfield State picked up its first women's volleyball win of the season with a decisive 3-0 win at Bridgewater State in a MASCAC game on Saturday.

The game scores were 25-18, 25-23, and 25-18.

Brianna Starkey (Rockland, Mass.) led the way with 14 kills, while Hanna Simpkins (Fall Mountain Regional/Walpole, Mass.)  and Ashley Crowley (Billerica, Mass.) each added nine kills on the afternoon.  Simpkins added four service aces and Starkey three.

Ally Rega (Chelmsford, Mass.) set 23 assists for the Owls, and Jess Haradon (Mansfield, Mass.) recorded 17 digs. Natasha Belardo (Holyoke/Springfield, Mass.) was also in double figures with 11 digs.

Westfield is now 1-12 on the season, but 1-1 in MASCAC play Bridgewater drops to 1-6 and 1-1 in the conference. The Bears were led by eight kills from Kayla Baril.

Westfield will face Bay Path in a non-conference game on Monday night.
