Westfield State freshman Grace Phair (Stockbridge, Mass./Monument Mountain) picked up in track and field where she left off in cross country - by winning the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference women's indoor track and field rookie of the week award, as sponsored by GEICO, the league announced on Tuesday.

Phair won the 3000 meters in a time of 10:18.47 at the Springfield College season opener, which currently stands sixth in the nation on the NCAA Division III performance list.  The Owls standout, who won the MASCAC Cross Country title this fall, won the cross country rookie of the week on seven occasions this fall.

The Owls will next compete on Saturday at Utica (NY) College at the Utica Invitational.
